Wednesday, December 14, 2016  The Polar Express Evening was a "Big Hit" with the visitors to the Southwest Regional Library. It was a great Family Night. The Florida Citrus Model Train Society members that participating were:  Ken Sargeant, Saralyn Sargeant, Peter Colussy, Kathy Colussy, Joe Motes, Tom Rottenberg, Dan McMurtrie, Bill Nielsen, Joe Pisciotti, Luis Figueroa, Joe Parisini, John Michna, Kieve Uhrlich (13) We had 613 guests for the Evening Program from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A new record for one day with 1,171 visitors attending the Day Display and the Polar Express Evening Program.

October 26, 2016 Monthly Business Meetings are for the members that work and cannot attend our Breakfast Meetings an opportunity to participate in our decision making. The meetings are held at the Blue Moon Diner where you can purchase your own meal from the menu. Our speaker for our meeting on Wednesday evening, October 26th, was none other than Florida East Coast Railway Company Historian, Barry University and Nova Southeastern University Adjunct Professor of History Seth H. Bramson. Seth talks are both engaging and exciting and as some of you may know, he is the only person in the country who bears the official title of Company Historian with an American railroad. Seth tells us about THE FLORIDA EAST COAST RAILWAY:  FOR 120 YEARS AMERICA’S SPEEDWAY TO SUNSHINE.

Final Statistics for The Florida Citrus Model Train Society Display at the South Regional / Broward College Library where 5,538 Visitors and 43 FCMTS Members participated in 194 Days creating 778 Community Service Hours. That was an average of 395.57 per day for a 14 day visit. We lost 4 days with the interruption of Hurricane Matthew travelling through our community.

Dr. Ken Sargeant (Operation LifeSaver Volunteer Instructor) made 43 Operation LifeSaver Presentations to 24 visiting Summer Camps with a total 1,003 participants during Summer Camp Week, June 13 - 17, 2016. The Event was held at the Old Davie School Historical Museum. Summer Camps were from: Oakland Academy of Sunrise, Amberwood Academy of Lauderhill, Kinder Care Academy of Pembroke Pines, Northwest Christian of Miami, Discovery Pre School of Coconut Creek, Davie Christian Academy of Davie, Camp Central of Lauderdale Lakes, C by Me of Hollywood, Sheridan Hills Christian of Hollywood, Kinder Care Academy of Miami Lakes, Tinglewood of Pembroke Pines, Andy Bear Campers of Coral Springs, Children's World South of Fort Lauderdale, Children's World of Margate, Kid's in Motion of Coral Springs, St Bonaventure of Davie, Oxford Academy of Sunrise, Kids in Motion of Coral Springs, A Family Childcare of Fort Lauderdale, Education Station Pre School of Light House Point, Kinder Care of Plantation, ABC's of Learning and Growing of North Lauderdale, Sunny Seed Pre School of Davie, Early Learning Academy of Pembroke Pines. Each camper was given an Activity Book, Coloring Book, Pen, Pencil, Book Mark, Key Ring, Brochure "Myths or Realities? October 5, 2019 Nine year old Kylie Sargeant was the youngest vendor at the Train Show & Swap Meet selling Hallmark Train Christmas Ornaments and Candy to the many guests attending the event. She is earning money to take a class trip to St. Augustine later in the school year. November 8, 2018 (L-R) Peter Colussy, Ken Sargeant. Peter Colussy Built a Post War Marx Commodore Vanderbilt Steam Locomotive with a Wedge Tender built between 1945 - 48. Orginally built as a mechanical wind up engine which has been converted to an electric double reduction gear motor for this project. Oh Lord, now that I have flagged Thee, lift up my feet from the rough road of life and plant them safely on the deck of the train of salvation. Let me use the safety on the deck of the train of salvation. Let me see the safety lamp know as prudence, join all the couplings in the train with the strong arm of love, let my hand lamp be the Bible. Heavenly Father, keep all the switches closed that lead off to the sidings, especially those with the blind end. Oh Lord, if it be Thy pleasure, have semaphore block along the line show the white light of hope that I may make the run of life without stopping. And Lord, give us the Ten Commandments for a schedule and when I've finish on scheduled time and pulled into the dark station of death, may the superintendent of the Universe say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, come and sign the payroll and receive the check of eternal hapiness."

MUSEUM OF DISCOVERY & SCIENCE AUTONATION IMAX THEATER

The Museum Of Discovery & Science, the AUTONATION IMAX THEATER and the Florida Citrus Model Train Society presented a "G" Scale Model Train Layout in the Main Lobby and an "O" Scale Layout on the second floor at the Museum from August 24, 2013 to February 24, 2014. Over 74,497 visitors attended with 36 members of the Florida Citrus Train Society volunteering 1,270 days working 5,200 hours. Thank you for the fine opportunity to display our trains.
