SATURDAY, JANUARY 2, 2016

 

January 2, 2016 Several visitors and guests standing outside the Multipurpose Room at the Southwest Regional Library. This was the Last Day of participaton at the Library for our Christmas Holiday Season Model Train Display. We set a new record of 714 guests during our Final Day. The past twenty four days we had a total of 8,008 visitors to view the Florida Citrus Model Train Society Display. We had 46 members attend 368 times providing 1,452 Community Service Hours. Notice the youngsters dressed in engineer and conductor costumes. The adults were dressed in attire representing the "G" Scale Layout which featured a fictitious Florida town called "Seminole Creek" at the turn of the century representing the late 1800's to the low 1900's. The adults were dressed as Tourists, Conductors, Engineers, Firemen, Doctor, Banker, Sheriff, Telegraph Operator, etc. Operation LifeSaver Safety Program was presented and handouts given to the participants. Wednesday June 5, 2014  Tom Rottenberg running "G" Scale Trains for the students. Two Operation LifeSaver Presentations were made to the Third Grade Classes in the Elementary School. Students received an Activity Book, Pen, Pencil, Bookmark, Key Ring and a Brochure "Myths or Realities? Pedestrian Safety Around Tracks & Trains". They saw a DVD Titled "Tracks Are For Trains Not For Kids". Thanks to Melissa Sargeant for setting up the Program at the school. (See:OPERATION LIFESAVER)

Oh Lord, now that I have flagged Thee, lift up my feet from the rough road of life and plant them safely on the deck of the train of salvation. Let me use the safety on the deck of the train of salvation. Let me see the safety lamp know as prudence, join all the couplings in the train with the strong arm of love, let my hand lamp be the Bible. Heavenly Father, keep all the switches closed that lead off to the sidings, especially those with the blind end. Oh Lord, if it be Thy pleasure, have semaphore block along the line show the white light of hope that I may make the run of life without stopping. And Lord, give us the Ten Commandments for a schedule and when I've finish on scheduled time and pulled into the dark station of death, may the superintendent of the Universe say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, come and sign the payroll and receive the check of eternal hapiness."

The Museum Of Discovery & Science, the AUTONATION IMAX THEATER and the Florida Citrus Model Train Society presented a "G" Scale Model Train Layout in the Main Lobby and an "O" Scale Layout on the second floor at the Museum from August 24, 2013 to February 24, 2014.
